Death is the ultimate cessation of the individual Self. When you die, you cease to exist. There is no life after death. This is something that many people are not willing to accept when they are alive, but when they die, it will not be denied.

One can see this when people are in a state of delusion. For example, when the body is dead, there is no food for the mind to eat or anything to think with. So the mind begins to wander in search for something to think about and in order to do so it creates false ideas about what happens after death.
